Frequently asked questions
Things people want to know before reaching out.
Fees, insurance, telehealth, and what to expect. For more on a specific area, see DBT or teen and young adult therapy.
Getting started
How do I get started?
Email or call. We will set up a free 30-minute consultation — a chance to talk, ask questions, and work out whether this is a fit. [email protected] or (206) 627-0570.
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
You will not know until you meet someone. The relationship matters more than any credential or modality, which is why we do a free consultation first. If it does not seem like a good fit, we will help you find someone who is.
Do you work with children?
We typically work with clients aged 12 and older. We occasionally make exceptions for younger children depending on the situation — reach out and we can talk it through.
Do you work with adults?
Yes. Our clinical focus is teens and young adults, but we see adults for anxiety, depression, trauma, and DBT as well.
Fees & insurance
How much do sessions cost?
$180 per 60-minute session. If you have in-network insurance, your cost depends on your plan's copay or deductible.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We are in network with Regence, Premera, LifeWise, and most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. If you have a different plan, out-of-network reimbursement may be available — ask us about it, and it is worth checking with us directly since the plans we accept change from time to time.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you are not using insurance, federal law entitles you to a written estimate of what treatment is expected to cost before it begins. We provide one automatically. More detail here.
What is your cancellation policy?
24 hours notice. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee. If something comes up, just let us know as soon as you can.
Logistics
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Secure video sessions for clients located anywhere in Washington state, at the same rate as in person.
What are your hours?
We see clients by appointment. Reach out and we will find a time that works — we schedule around school, work, and the ferry.
Where is your office?
17223 Vashon Hwy SW, Vashon, WA 98070. We also see clients in Seattle, and by telehealth anywhere in Washington state.
What kind of therapy do you practice?
Primarily behavioral — DBT, CBT, and CAMS. We focus on skills and patterns rather than only talking about feelings, and we use what is supported by research, tailored to the person.
Can I email you about my situation?
Please keep clinical details, symptoms, and health history out of email. Email is not a secure channel. Reach out to set up a call, and we can discuss specifics by phone or through a secure system.
